Gale Harold, perhaps best known for playing Jackson, Teri Hatcher’s new beau, Jackson in Season 5 or Desperate Housewives, or his stellar role in Queer as Folk is in the neurosurgical intensive care unit in L.A. after a motorcycle crash.

E!Online is reporting that the star is confirmed to have been involved in a motorcycle crash yesterday, Oct. 14, and has fractured his shoulder. Although Harold’s condition is officially classified as critical, CBS News is reporting that Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry has said the doctors are keeping him as such because they’re watching for brain swelling.

No one else was hurt in the accident.

Harold is at the Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. He was scheduled to be on-set before the accident.

Mitchell and Bree go at it and it's over, get this, who's the better housewife. Mitchell's young husband is, of course, a gynecologist so he will have an insider view on lots of things on Wisteria Lane.
Another treat. Mike Delfino [James Denton] will get a younger brother named Terry.

Desperate Housewives actor James Denton has been named the Grand Marshal for the Allstate® 400 at the Brickyard ® at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 29. This year represents the 14th running of the historic race, which will be the season’s first NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series event televised on ESPN, and marks Allstate’s third consecutive season as title sponsor.
Denton will be on hand to participate in pre-race activities, including the ceremonial waving of the green flag, signaling the start of the race. As a continued Indianapolis Motor Speedway family tradition, IMS Chairman of the Board Mari Hulman George will deliver the legendary command, “Gentlemen, start your engines.” This year’s race winner will be vying to become the third consecutive winner to go on and win the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Championship, a feat accomplished by Tony Stewart in 2005 and Jimmie Johnson in 2006.

Delany is in talks to join the cast as a woman who moves to Wisteria Lane with her much younger husband (Nathan Fillion) and her daughter (Lyndsy Fonseca).

U.S. broadcaster Univision Communications Inc. said on Monday it will produce a Spanish-language version of ABC's hit show "Desperate Housewives," marking a departure from its heavy dependence on prime-time shows provided by its Mexican partner Televisa. Wisteria Lane is the fictional suburban street where the action takes place.
"Amas de Casa Desesperadas" will become the first production venture between Los Angeles-based Univision and Disney-ABC International Television Latin America, a unit of The Walt Disney Co..
The show will be produced by Buenos Aires-based Pol-ka Producciones, which previously made versions of the show for the Argentine, Colombian and Ecuadorean markets. Another version for Brazil is underway.
The actresses for the leading female roles have yet to be chosen.
The bulk of Univision's prime time shows at its three U.S. networks is provided by Grupo Televisa, the world's biggest producer of Spanish-language content.
Both companies share a programming deal that expires in 2017, but their relationship has been marred in recent years by fights over rights, royalties and management.
Under the agreement, Univision has exclusivity rights to air Televisa's hit shows, including its worldwide famous soap operas.
A few months ago, local media said Televisa was in talks to produce "Desperate Housewives," but the broadcaster never confirmed such reports.
Televisa is launching "Sexo y Otros Secretos" (Sex and Other Secrets), which brings to mind the ABC series. It is one of four new shows the Mexican broadcaster launches this week to revamp its prime time and lure young audiences.
The four shows will be offered to Univision, Televisa's management has said.
Televisa and Univision were not available for comment.

After a week in which a number of hit shows across the broadcast networks slipped to season or series lows, ABC finished the week with some good news. The network’s Sunday dramedy “Desperate Housewives” bounced back from last week’s series low to its best original outing in more than a month.
“Housewives” averaged a 6.6 adults 18-49 rating last night, according to Nielsen overnights, up 10 percent from last week’s 6.0 overnight. That had tied the April 8 Easter episode for the lowest overnight rating in the third-year series’ history.
Last night “Housewives” improved from a 6.3 to a 6.9 in its second half hour and was easily the night’s highest-rated show, though it’s still way down from this time last year and slightly down from its season-to-date 6.9 average.
There are several possible reasons for the improvement. One is that it was the fourth straight original episode of the series, which had been in repeats for several weeks before that. The run of originals may have increased the buzz around the show and brought old viewers back.
Another is that viewership levels may increase in general over the next few weeks as series near their season finales.

They will have to do without "Friends" reruns, too.Four foreign television channels have been pulled from the air in Indian-controlled Kashmir after Islamic militant groups demanded cable companies stop airing "obscene" shows, cable operators said Wednesday."As militants have asked us to stop airing obscene channels, we've suspended broadcasting English channels like HBO, Star Movies, Star World and Sony Pix," said Muzaffar Ahmed, a TV cable operator in Srinagar, the summer capital of India's Jammu-Kashmir state.

On Sunday, two militant groups in a telephone call to a local news agency, Current News Service, advised TV cable operators to drop channels that the groups say spread obscenity.The groups - Al-Badr Mujahedeen and Al-Madina - did not specify which channels they were referring to."We took the decision after a meeting of all local cable operators in Srinagar," Ahmed told The Associated Press.The content of the channel's broadcasts in India is already pretty tame compared to other countries in order to comply with India's stringent censorship laws. Obscenities are bleeped out and hints of nudity blurred. Other scenes are cut entirely.Cable operators were taking no chances.Last year, a bomb blast rocked the office of a cable TV provider in the town of Sopore, 30 miles north of Srinagar. One person died in the explosion and the company's third-floor office was badly damaged by the blast. Emmy-nominated Cross will kick-off a nationwide free skin cancer screening initiative and education effort alerting Americans about the importance of early detection and prevention in the fight against skin cancer.

"I'm proud to be part of a cause that is near and dear to my heart," explains actress Marcia Cross. "Having had two family members suffer from melanoma, I've come to understand the importance of skin cancer detection and prevention. Knowing what I know about the dangers of sun exposure, I take extra care to protect myself with a large hat, sunglasses, daily UV protection, and of course, an annual screening."

“Desperate Housewives TV Show” star Marcia Cross is facing a serious pregnancy complication she fears could jeopardize the health of her unborn twins.
A recent ultrasound revealed the 44-year-old actress, who is due in April, is suffering from placenta previa, say pals. The condition is caused by all or part of the placenta covering the opening to the cervix.
And one insider maintains that a panicked Marcia recently rushed off the “DH” set and headed straight to her doctor’s office when she started suffering from cramps and bleeding.
“Marcia’s doctor checked the fetuses’ heartbeats, and found them to be perfectly healthy,” a source close to the actress told The ENQUIRER.
“Marcia was relieved, but her doctor warned her that she had better slow down and take things easy.”
The doctor also performed an ultrasound on the fetuses and discovered the placenta previa, says the source. Placenta previa is a potentially life-threatening condition that causes the placenta to precede the baby during birth, and severe hemorrhaging can occur during labor.
“The problem might resolve itself as the fetuses grow and pull the placenta away from the danger area — but if it doesn’t work itself out, it could endanger both her and the twins,” added the source.

The metaphor proved irresistible for "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry. When his ABC series returned after a creatively rocky second season, it opened with Wisteria Lane drenched in purifying rain.
"Let's just wipe everything clean and start fresh," Cherry said, acknowledging the symbolism and the need for change.
He is confident that the Sunday-night show, a comedy-drama about suburban life that became an instant hit in its first year and helped alter ABC's fortunes and TV storytelling itself, is in for better times.
"Season one was a tidal wave. The success, the ratings, the attention, the workload. By the time I finished the season, I was intellectually, morally and spiritually spent - not to mention physically," he told The Associated Press.
For a project intended to represent one person's voice, which runs counter to most of TV, the effect was inevitable.
Cherry, entering the second year already drained and hit with a studio request for extra episodes, was behind from the start. As he scrambled to revamp story lines written by others, he said, the show lost "a large sense of its identity because I wasn't driving the train."
But he argues that critics were overly harsh in their blanket condemnation.
"The biggest failure of season two was a lack of consistency. It's not like every episode sucked. ... I'm immensely proud of some of the stuff we did," he said.
Along with "Lost," "Desperate Housewives" also helped revive extended story arcs revolving around a central mystery - Cherry tips his hat to "Twin Peaks" (1990-91) as inspiration - after TV's long fixation on "Law & Order"-like shows with single-episode plots.
Audience loyalty allowed "Housewives" to finish the season ranked No. 4 in the ratings despite its sophomore woes. It was clear that Susan, Lynette, Bree, Gabrielle and Edie hadn't worn out their welcome as the show started this year with a second-place debut.
Cherry, now sole executive producer, is intent on rewarding the faithful and ensuring the series lives up to its potential. He's aided by new writers Jeff Greenstein ("Will & Grace") and Joe Keenan ("Frasier").
"I will never have the element of surprise again," Cherry said. "Now I just have to work consistently, doing good storytelling with richly detailed characters and interesting twists and turns and surprises."
Among them: Bree's (Marcia Cross) marriage to Orson (Kyle MacLachlan), who may have a murderous past. Susan (Teri Hatcher), standing vigil at the bedside of comatose lover Mike (James Denton), connects with a man (Dougray Scott) in a similar predicament. And Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) and Carlos' (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) split goes from bitterness to melancholy.
One plot twist that Cherry didn't plan is Cross's real-life pregnancy. The 44-year-old actress and her stockbroker husband, Tom Mahoney, are expecting a baby in April.
"Marcia actually wants me to have Bree be pregnant. I'm toying with the idea but I might not be able to do it because we already have a lot of her story line planned. You hate to go back and pull the threads," Cherry said.
"The odds are unlikely at this point that the character of Bree would get pregnant. But you never know," he added, keeping his options open.
Another part of the third-season makeover calls for a renewed emphasis on the housewives as a group, something Cherry realized fans were pining for.
"That's the glue that holds the show together, friendship. I had to be reminded of it a little bit," he said.
The first episode, for instance, included a cozy ladies' lunch in which Bree delivered the surprising news of her engagement.
Such group shots take time, which Cherry didn't have last year.
"It's so hard when you have a scene with all the women. It's a nightmare from a production standpoint because of all the hair and makeup people and having to get close-ups on all of them."
Don't assume there's discord on the set, Cherry cautioned. When Felicity Huffman, who plays Lynette, was cast in the upcoming film "Georgia Rules" the other actresses volunteered to work extra days to accommodate her schedule.
"Whatever personality clashes there were the first season were kind of minor, but the press spun them bigger. There was a bad day that occurred in front of a Vanity Fair reporter," Cherry said. "Sadly, though, there were 200 other working days where everyone was lovely to each other."
With cast contracts either signed or close to resolution, he said, the expectation is the series will run at least through the 2010-11 season. His plan is to stick with it to the end.
"I do not have a by-the-numbers thing about this. When I die, 'Desperate Housewives' is on that gravestone. I know that. So I really treat this like it's my child."
But when he's done with the series, he vowed, he's done with TV. The next stop is Broadway.
"I'll take whatever money I've made, I'm going straight to theatre and writing books for musicals," said Cherry, who started as a musical theatre performer and counts "Sweeney Todd," "A Little Night Music," "Gypsy" and "Wicked" among his favourites.
"I feel like I really just started out learning how to write. I really know a lot about dramatic structure and how to paint characters. ... Now I would love the time to really dig deep and do something great."

The third season of ABC's "Housewives" begins Sunday night at 9 with an assurance and a knowing playfulness that was missing most of last year, except for the late-season antics involving Eva Longoria's baby-hungry Gabrielle.
It even introduces a new buried-body mystery, a loud echo of the show's successful inaugural season - but if "Housewives" is going to plagiarize itself, that's the right thing to steal.
The action picks up six months after last season's cliffhanger, with good story lines for all the female principals. Gabrielle, for example, is having problems with her future child's live-in surrogate mother, Gwendoline Yeo's Xiao-Mei, who's very pregnant and very demanding.
Felicity Huffman's Lynette has problems with a mom, too: Nora (played by the hilarious Kiersten Warren), the clingy mother of Doug's love child. Teri Hatcher's Susan is tending to the hospitalized Mike (James Denton) while catching the eye of another man (Dougray Scott as Ian). Nicollette Sheridan's Edie is trying to sell a house on Wisteria Lane, a task that proves difficult because of her neighbors' odd activities.
And Marcia Cross, as Bree, continues to get closer to secretly creepy mystery man Orson (Kyle MacLachlan from "Sex and the City"), in the story line that becomes the central thread of the new season - a plot that makes room for guest stars Laurie Metcalf and Valerie Mahaffey as well.
Unlike the second season's opener, which started that illadvised business in the basement and kept the women largely separated, this year's kickoff script, by series creator Marc Cherry and Jeff Greenstein, does everything right.
Everywhere you turn, there are fabulous face-offs: Lynette versus Nora, Gabrielle versus Xiao-Mei, Susan versus herself, Edie versus everybody.
And when the normally frigid Bree gets moved to ecstasy by Orson's fussy rewashing of her already clean wineglasses, her reaction is the perfect payoff for two years of repressive character development.
Pass the word: If you've given up on "Desperate Housewives," it's time to return to the neighborhood.

Friday, Buena Vista Games will announce a computer game based on ABC's mega-popular Desperate Housewives. Due in September for Windows XP computers, Housewives turns a player into the newest housewife to move onto Wisteria Lane.
Not only can you tap into the delicious secrets held by your naughty neighbors — including Bree, Lynette, Gabrielle, Edie and Susan — but shortly after settling into this cushy suburban neighborhood you'll also discover you were in a car accident 20 years ago and have been living with amnesia ever since. The goal of the game is to interact with the characters to unlock a few dark secrets of your own.
"As fans of the show would expect, the game is loaded with gossip, betrayal, murder and sex — you know, all the things women like," says Mary Schuyler, the producer of the title at Buena Vista Games.
Housewives, a dialogue-heavy mystery with an emphasis on social interaction and character customization, is geared toward female players. "There aren't a lot of games for women today, but this is one where women will really have a good time," Schuyler says. (The game will be rated for ages 13 and up.)
Scott Sanford Tobis, one of the TV series' writers, was tapped to script the game. "I want players to feel like they've found a bonus episode of the show," Tobis says. "In fact, it's more like eight separate TV episodes; I wrote about 13,000 lines of dialogue for this game."
Before moving into the neighborhood with your husband and son, you customize the look of your housewife by selecting from hundreds of facial features, body types and clothing options.
The top-down and slightly angled view of the game world should be familiar to those who play the popular Sims games. Housewives also borrows a few Sims-esque features, such as the ability to customize furniture in your home, upgrade appliances and walk outside to see what the neighbors are up to.
Each of the game's self-contained "episodes" is introduced by the TV series' narrator, actress Brenda Strong (as late housewife Mary Alice Young), but with a larger story arc that blankets the entire tale.
Players can also engage in mini-games, such as a gardening challenge, a timed cooking test, and a weekly poker game where players can win money and use it to buy extra goodies for their home.
If you lose too much money, however, you may be tempted to sneak into a neighbor's home and steal their items. "And it wouldn't be a Desperate Housewives game if you couldn't try to steal a neighbor's husband, too," Schuyler says.

NEW YORK (AP) - Teri Hatcher, one of the stars of ABC's Desperate Housewives, says in the upcoming issue of Vanity Fair that her uncle sexually molested her 35 years ago.
The 41-year-old actress says she learned in 2002 that a 14-year-old victim of her uncle had committed suicide. Concerned that he would escape charges of molestation, Hatcher approached the prosecutors. "This is something I've tried to hide my whole life," Hatcher tells the magazine, which hits newsstands Friday with the actress on the cover.
"I was just blown away by this young girl's pain," she says. "I thought, boy, that's really close to being me. Any day of the week I could feel that sort of pain. I haven't tried to kill myself, but I've certainly thought about it."
After Hatcher came forward, her uncle, Richard Stone, then 64-years-old, pleaded guilty to four counts of child molestation and received 14 years in prison.
Chuck Gillingham, the Santa Clara County deputy district attorney in California, said, "Without Teri, this case would have been dismissed."
Hatcher said she hesitated because she thought tabloids would suggest she was trying to resuscitate her then-languishing career: "Here's what I anticipated. He did this, he gets off, and Teri ends up on the cover a tabloid."
Hatcher said she was five-years-old living in Sunnyvale, Calif., with her family when Stone would manipulate situations to get him and Hatcher alone in his car so he could take advantage of her.
"These are haunting things that I've remembered all my life," she says.
As many victims of sexual abuse do, Hatcher had complicated feelings about the abuse. She didn't see her uncle after she was eight-or nine-years-old, and never told her parents, though she thinks they suspected.
"I think their way of dealing with things is denial and guilt," she says. "Nobody wanted to talk about it. But all I did was blame myself."
Hatcher's career was revived with the hit Desperate Housewives, for which she's twice been nominated for a Golden Globe, winning last year.
"I have so much pain," she says. "I'm a woman who carries around all these layers of fear and vulnerability. I'm trying to be my powerful me."

More Desperate Housewives - in Spanish and Portuguese.Hoping to replicate the worldwide success of the Golden Globe-winning ABC drama, Buena Vista International Television Latin America announced Thursday plans to produce four local Latin American editions, each with its own cast and cultural flavour.
Spanish versions of the show will shown in Argentina, Colombia and Ecuador, and a Portuguese version will air in Brazil.
"The script of the series perfectly fit the profile of what the Latin American audience looks for," said Fernando Barbosa, senior vice-president of Buena Vista International Television Latin America. "It looks similar to the telenovelas."
Each new version will be filmed on one set in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and follow the format of the U.S. original, but with adaptations to reflect each cast's local culture.
"In the U.S. version there's a plumber (actor James Denton as Mike Delfino) in that neighbourhood. In Latin America, a plumber is very unlikely to live in such type of neighbourhood, so we'll have to switch that profession," Barbosa said.
The couple played by Eva Longoria and Ricardo Antonio Chavira - who as Gabrielle and Carlos Solis represent Hispanics in the United States, Barbosa said - will reflect permanent immigrants in each community. For example, in the Colombian version, the couple will be from Ecuador.
Production on the Argentine version begins April 15 in Buenos Aires, and the first episodes could air in Argentina as early as June or July, Barbosa said.
Four actresses have already been cast as the lead desperate housewives for the Argentine version: Araceli Gonzalez as Gabriela (Gabrielle on the U.S. version), Gabriela Toscano as Susana (Susan), Carola Reyna as Elisa (Bree) and Mercedes Moran as Lia (Lynette).

In an episode tentatively scheduled for February 19 on ABC, Alonso will play Lucia, who drops in on her daughter after leaving the latest in a string of husbands, the network said.
Gabrielle is played by Eva Longoria.
Lucia has been referred to previously by Gabrielle -- and not in the most loving way -- but hasn't been seen until now.

DETROIT Chrysler has brought out one of the "Desperate Housewives" to help show off their latest concept cars.Eva Longoria sauntered across the stage as DaimlerChrysler C-E-O Dieter Zetsche (DEE'-tur TSET'-sheh) and Chrysler president Tom LaSorda warmed up the crowd of journalists.
Longoria said she was "desperate" to get her hands on the Imperial concept. She rolled up in it with LaSorda as they brought the car on stage at the Detroit auto show.
The Imperial looks like a highly refined 300-C.
Chrysler also showed its Dodge Challenger concept, which was inspired by the 1970 version.
The automaker hasn't said whether either concept will reach the market.

The ABC show's creator, Marc Cherry, says Marcia Cross' character — who became a widow following her husband's poisoning and then watched her flipped-out fiance die of an overdose — isn't reacting well to changes.
"We're starting her descent into alcoholism," Cherry tells TV Guide in its Jan. 2 issue, on newsstands Thursday. He says there are some alcohol-fueled moments with her fellow housewives where "it gets pretty ugly."
It shouldn't entirely be a surprise for fans of the show, since Cherry says he's been hinting about Bree's future ever since Desperate Housewives began a year ago.
"When Bree has tension, she grabs a glass," he says. "Chart it back and you'll see so many moments where she just goes for the wine."

The officer then went ahead to issue citations to Parker for stopping traffic and not being able to produce a valid driver's licence from Texas. In the report by the officer, Longoria is reported to have accused the officer of having an ego problem. To this the officer calmly told her of his intentions not to indulge with her in a shouting match. Refuting these, Longoria issued a statement through her publicist stating the police report to be “highly inaccurate”. She went on to state that she and Parker “respect and love the community and the San Antonio Police Department.” In the police report, Parker is mentioned to having been at the wheel of the car when stopped at East Houston street after their car was blocking traffic. An officer on a bicycle showed his flashlight to suggest them to move. The officer went to them when they did not, and put his palm on the car.
The police say that both “began screaming in a verbally abusive and demeaning manner,” and even questioned the officer why he touched their car. After this when the officer asked for the driver's licence, she began to drive and almost hit a man.She was then asked by the police to turn off the ignition and get out of the car. It was then that she is reported to have shouted out of her window: “He's just a Mexican bike cop. He only wants your autograph.” Despite this and other comments by her, the police did not take any action against her. Spokesman for the police Joe Rios said that officers “didn't want to prolong the situation. Had other people heard and been offended by what she said, they would have taken action.” The incident is reported to have happened around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday. The couple had gone to attend a match between the Spur and Toronto Raporters, with the former winning 95-90 at the SBC Center. Meanwhile, Liza Anderson, publicist for Longoria, has mentioned that the couple will go ahead and press charges about this incident.

Former "Desperate Housewives" actor Page Kennedy says he wasn't fired from the hit show because of any improper behavior.
Kennedy said officials merely wanted to recast his role and that reports of him being let go for on-set nudity are false.
"There are a lot of stories that have been told, but the truth of the matter is that Touchstone (the show's producer) decided to go in a new direction, and they bought out my contract," Kennedy told the Detroit Free Press.
Publicists for the series have said Kennedy, who joined the show this season, was fired earlier this month after a "thorough investigation by the studio" of allegations of improper conduct made against him.
Kennedy, 28, said he's concerned about the damage the allegations could do to his image, at least in the short term.
"I feel that my life will be looked at under a microscope now," he told The Detroit News. "Anything that I do or am perceived to do will make news."
Kennedy played Caleb, a character shrouded in mystery and seen only briefly as he was held captive in the basement of Wisteria Lane newcomer Betty Applewhite (Alfre Woodard). The role has been recast, and Kennedy's final appearance on the ABC series aired Sunday.

Page Kennedy, who plays a fugitive from the law on "Desperate Housewives," was fired from the hit ABC drama for improper conduct, a series spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Kennedy, who joined the show this season, was let go Friday after a "thorough investigation by the studio" of the allegations against him, publicist Janet Daily said. "Desperate Housewives" is produced by Touchstone Television, part of The Walt Disney Co.
Details of the allegations were unavailable, Daily said. A call to Kennedy's agent for comment was not immediately returned Tuesday.
The alleged misconduct did not involve another cast member, a source close to the production said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Kennedy played Caleb, a character shrouded in mystery and seen only briefly as he was held captive in the basement of Wisteria Lane newcomer Betty Applewhite (Alfre Woodard). In the Oct. 23 episode, it was revealed that Caleb may be responsible for a teenager's murder in Chicago.
The role of Caleb is being recast, Daily said. Kennedy's final appearance on the ABC series is Sunday.
In an Associated Press interview last month, Kennedy, 28, said the "Desperate Housewives" role represented the chance of "making a name for myself."
He was so intent on joining the show, he said, that he passed on other jobs, including a recurring role on Showtime's "Barber Shop" and parts on WB's upcoming Rebecca Romijn series "Pepper Dennis" and on UPN's "Love, Inc."

PORTLAND, Ore. - The hectic set of a red-hot television series is a long way from the tall trees and babbling streams that run through the tiny Oregon town of Brightwood.
But the little burg nestled in the foothills of Mount Hood has produced a talented woman that is the subject of watercooler debate and entertainment forums across the country- and beyond.
Debra Strong plays Mary Alice, the disembodied, ethereal-voiced narrator of the popular, racy and slightly soapy hit show 'Desperate Housewives'.
On a recent visit to Portland, Strong spent some time with reporter Anna Song at the KATU studios and made an appearance on AM Northwest before returning to work in California.
Even though her 'live' character on the show died early on in the series from suicide (well, maybe), producers were reluctant to let the silky-voiced Strong leave the series.
So they brought her back from the dead as the narrator, filling in viewers with background information to set up the next battle of the sexes and personal foibles that are the highlights of the show.
And every now and then, she even gets to reappear on-screen, as her long-dead character makes an appearance here and there as a ghostly, and instructive, spirit.
But away from the show, Strong shows shades of the small mountain town that shaped her youth, where she played in the Sandy river and grew up in the shadow of Mount Hood.
She says a simple upbringing in the rural Northwest has kept her grounded during her tenure in show business, where living in reality can be optional or even elusive.
But Strong says her rise from small town to big time is another lesson in the power of dreams, and how following a goal can change your life, even when the path to success is difficult.
There aren't many talent agents or drama clubs in Brightwood, so the road to success for Strong involved a lot of hard work and timely choices.
Back in the recording studio, Strong attempts once again to infuse her silky voice with more than just words; plot hints, irony and humor are all layered into her delivery.
Strong was surprised at how popular the show was right out of the gate, and says she hopes the series continues its tradition of strong writing and clever storytelling.
When asked if she could give any inside information on what was going to happen on the show, Strong just smiled and said "stay tuned".

Count Marcia Cross among the fans of "Desperate Housewives" who want the housewives' stories to connect again.
She tells AP Radio News she agrees "it would be nice" if they started spending a little more time together. She says in the first few episodes of this season they weren't but "that wasn't anything sort of set in stone. It's just sometimes things just evolve."
She says there are scenes we haven't seen yet. And, as far as any backlash, Cross says "with a show that successful, that's bound to happen." So, she says, "it'll pass."

With a typical "Desperate Housewives" flourish of high drama, the man locked in a Wisteria Lane basement was revealed Sunday to be a fugitive from justice.
Caleb, being held in secret by neighborhood newcomer Betty Applewhite (Alfre Woodard), may be responsible for the killing four months ago of a teenage girl in Chicago - a crime for which another man has been arrested.
"It's time we talked about her, Caleb," Betty tells him after seeing a TV news report of the arrest. "Until you start accepting responsibility for what happened, you know I can't let you out of here."
Page Kennedy, the actor playing Caleb, remained a barely glimpsed mystery figure before Sunday. He's glad to emerge from the shadows, but careful not to disclose much about his character.
"I do know that he's sweet but he can be very dangerous," Kennedy told The Associated Press.
The man's story is evolving as production continues, he said. The actor doesn't know Caleb's fate and acknowledges that others on the suburban satire have met untimely ends.
Asked if Caleb makes it through the season, Kennedy said, "Yes," then, after a pause, "Hopefully."
During Sunday's episode, Betty is seen composing a letter to Chicago police advising that an innocent person is in custody. Her son, Matthew (Mehcad Brooks), warns her that she's putting Caleb, who appears to be in his 20s and developmentally disabled, in danger.
"He's not a killer," she said. "He was confused."
"They're not gonna care how slow Caleb is. They'll just execute him," Mehcad replies. Caleb's relationship to the Applewhites is not made clear.
The murder victim was identified as a 17-year-old high school student named Melanie Foster.
Kennedy said he'll have no regrets even if his "Desperate Housewives" run turns out to be brief. He was so intent on joining the show that he let other opportunities go, including a recurring role on Showtime's "Barber Shop" and parts on WB's upcoming Rebecca Romijn series "Pepper Dennis" and on UPN's "Love, Inc."
"I needed this opportunity to play this kind of character," Kennedy said. "It isn't the kind that comes around often and it's usually played by a name (actor). This is an opportunity for me to showcase all the years of training I've had."
The hit ABC series represents the chance of "making a name for myself," he said.
Kennedy, 28, a Detroit native, studied at Western Michigan University and "fell in love with Shakespeare." He pursued his passion with graduate studies at the University of Delaware.
Working steadily since moving to Los Angeles five years ago, he's appeared in the HBO series "Six Feet Under" (he was a football player who dies of heat stroke) and made his film debut as a bad guy in 2003's "S.W.A.T." He's in the movie "In the Mix," opening on his birthday, Nov. 23.
"Desperate Housewives," which ranks among the top-rated series with about 25 million viewers weekly, represents "the biggest exposure I'll have gotten," Kennedy said.
He nearly missed out on it.
Kennedy had to finish a "Barber Shop" scene before he could audition for "Desperate Housewives" and the producers had cooperated by pushing his tryout time to the end of the day at 5 p.m. The "Barber Shop" shoot, however, ran long.
"So 5 o'clock came, then 5:45. I booked to my car and rushed from Paramount to Universal in the middle of traffic," Kennedy recalled. "When I got there they were all leaving. But they came back and watched and (series creator) Marc Cherry said it was worth the wait."
Whether "Desperate Housewives" proves his big break, Kennedy is enjoying the ride.
"Alfre Woodard's my favorite actress. To meet her and have her be so kind and open and welcoming to me is a great thing," he said, adding that the rest of the female-dominated cast have been "so sweet and nice to me."
His hope is to someday gain the clout to star in a film version of his favorite play, something a bit more classic than "Desperate Housewives."
"My dream and my goal is to play Richard III," Kennedy said. "Now I just need to get someone to hire me to do Shakespeare on film."

The air of desperation that saturates Wisteria Lane has permeated the real world this television season as fans have been wondering if the series that launched as an instant phenomenon last year was starting to lose its mojo.Critics have piped in that the second season of "Desperate Housewives" seems a little stale and have conjectured that it could be because creator Marc Cherry hasn't written any scripts himself. Fans on the Internet have flat-out complained that they are bored. And everyone has been lamenting that the four leading actresses have not appeared on screen together since the season premiere.Sunday night's episode — which delivered on humor (Gabrielle started a prison riot), outrage (Andrew told the creepy pharmacist how Bree moans during sex), self-indulgence (Susan gave Zach money to leave town) and heartache (Lynette sobbed after she got rid of her son's imaginary friend) — left fans who posted their thoughts on the Internet feeling less fraught. There was even one brief scene with three of the housewives: Gabrielle (Eva Longoria), Susan (Teri Hatcher) and Bree (Marcia Cross). But with no central mystery seemingly connecting the four women this season, questions remain about what direction the show is taking.Cherry, who created the show largely from his experiences with his mother and is largely responsible for "Housewives' " sometimes outrageous blend of comedy and tragedy, tried to address some of the fans' concerns in an e-mail to The Times for this story."Yes, we're trying some new stuff," he wrote on Friday. "Some of it might work. Some of it might not. This, of course, is the nature of episodic television. They can't all be gems. But, rest assured, I'm paying attention to my audience's response and am trying my darndest to please them. And I will continue to do so as long as I've got that executive producer credit above my name."While Cherry has not penned any of the episodes that have aired this season, he assured in the e-mail that "I am as involved in the writing process as I've ever been. I help come up with the story lines, I give notes, and, indeed, I rewrite things constantly. I take the credit and the blame for everything that goes on the screen."The attachment of viewers to characters on TV creates different expectations for television audiences than it does for moviegoers, said Stuart Fischoff, a media psychologist at Cal State L.A."It's not so much what's going on that is the problem," Fischoff said. "It's the comparison to last year. If this was the first season, people wouldn't have a reference point, a cognitive map or emotional map to compare it to. But it's the second season, so you can say it's unfolding differently as last year and I don't like it. That's why you might be getting what appears to be premature frustration."After the whirlwind of the first season, which included winning Golden Globe awards, the People's Choice award, Emmy Awards, set visits by Oprah and Diane Sawyer, and the selection of Cherry as one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people, Cherry realized something had to give. He took only four days off between Christmas and May, writing 80% of the scripts himself, and fell ill three times. The former sitcom writer, who had been unemployed for several years and almost went bankrupt, also realized he had control issues and vowed to let his well-seasoned writing staff share more of the load."This show has a very specific tone, and the tone is best when I write it," Cherry told The Times in May. "Now, the other writers can approximate it pretty darn well, or they have learned to. But at the beginning our writers were taking shots at scenes and they just didn't write it like I wanted it written."A ratings juggernaut since it premiered last year, "Desperate Housewives" is the No. 2 show on television this year. About 26 million people tuned in Sunday. But Cherry and other producers in the business caring about viewer response on the Internet is a sign that Nielsen ratings are no longer the only barometer of success for television, Fischoff added. The producers of ABC's Emmy-winning drama "Lost" also have admitted that they consider what fans post on blogs and message boards when they are breaking stories."That's becoming a more important source of information," Fischoff said. "The fact that fans can give their opinions instantly now is very valuable. When you're doing a show like this, you plant seeds. It's a slow development thing. But this show does feel more fragmented, and that's a change they may come back to rue. If people like the ensemble and the dynamics of the interplay between the women but then they separate them out as they have, you're missing the rhythm and the chemistry that lit the show up."

Desperate Housewives TV Show & iPod

Walt Disney Co. and Apple Computer Inc. reached an agreement Wednesday to offer ABC and Disney Channel television shows for download from Apple’s iTunes 6 program. The downloaded shows will play on computers as well as the new iPod video device that Apple debuted on Wednesday.
As part of the agreement, Apple will offer downloadable versions of the hit ABC programs “Desperate Housewives” and “Lost,” along with the new series “Night Stalker” and the Disney Channel’s “That’s So Raven” and “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” for $1.99 per episode.
Current season episodes of “Desperate Housewives” and “Lost” will be available the day after they are broadcast, and episodes from the complete first seasons of those shows will be available for download immediately, the companies said in a joint statement. Selected past episodes of “That's So Raven” and “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” will be made available as well.
The revamped iTunes will also sell downloads of more than 2,000 music videos and short films from Pixar Animation Studios for $1.99 each. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“This initiative is a perfect example of us applying our strategic priorities, namely, marrying great content with cutting edge technology to more effectively distribute our content while enhancing the experience for our customers,” said Robert A. Iger, CEO of Disney.
The new video iPod features a 2.5-inch color screen larger than those on standard iPods on a device that is 30 percent thinner than its predecessor. The new device, which will begin shipping next week, can hold up to 150 hours of video or 15,000 songs. A model that can store 30 gigabytes of data will cost $299, while a 60-gigabyte version will cost $399.
